Ali Smith and Shani Shih

Video Transcript: (hyperlink to transcript URL)

This video is the first in a series of the Inter(n)generational Showcase – the project presentations by the 1882 Foundation’s summer interns. Their projects are not the actual work they did for 1882, but how they took what they learned and applied that knowledge to their own independent research. The video opens with an introduction of the summer internship program by Allie, its purpose and parameters. She then introduces Shani Shih, Shani is not an intern, but she runs the Chinatown Art Studio, which is a big part of 1882’s summer arts programming. Shani talks a little about her background and then presents how the studio engages and empowers youth to “find their creative voice.”
