Timeless Echoes: Jewish, Chinese, and African American Histories

October 5 @ 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Join the 1882 Foundation and Dr. Gary Zola (American Jewish Archives), Alan Spears
(National Parks Conservation Association), and Carolyn Chan (Chinese American
Citizens Alliance) in the second event of our Timeless Echoes series. The panelists will
examine the historic intertwining of the Jewish, Black, and Chinese American
communities, including Jewish comments and Frederick Douglass’ writings on the
issue of Chinese exclusion in the 19th century. Analyzing incidents of both tension
and solidarity/integration, this event will discuss the implications of this complex history for our communities today.
