Description: Rep. Judy Chu (D-CA) delivers remarks at an event commemorating the 150th anniversary of the completion of the first Transcontinental Railroad in the Members’ Room at the Library of Congress. She speaks on the “invaluable role” that Chinese laborers played in constructing the railroad, and the prejudice that kept them from being included in the celebrations at the time, and has kept other Chinese and Asian-Americans from being fully appreciated for their roles in American history.
