Lunar New Year Killings Bring Focus to Guns and Mental Health Again.

There is so much that we do not know about the back-to-back mass killings at Monterey Park and Half Moon Bay, but two elements stand out –guns and mental health. Many people will bring attention (as they already have) to the role of guns. Warnings and calls for action deserve consideration once again, and again with another mass, senseless killing, continuously once more. (more…)

1882’s Happy Holidays and New Year 2023

Dear Friends: I can’t believe that the year 2022 will soon be over and we start anew. It will be a challenging year, but the heart of our work remains our Talk Story programs. Whether at the Summit Tunnel in California, or at educational workshops in DC and Richmond, or among federal and private financial supporters of heritage and history, we will be guided by Talk Story principles –uncovering our stories, preserving them, and telling them in our own voices across generations.
