1882 Reflection: Asian American Studies at Georgetown University

Spring 2019 marks the first semester Georgetown University will offer an “Intro to Asian American Studies” course.When students created the Asian-Pacific Islander Leadership Forum (APILF), they hoped it would serve as a political organizing space for Asian American and Pacific Islander undergraduates at Georgetown University. Recently, students in APILF have begun to use this space to think critically about the intersection of formal education and Asian American narratives. On Friday, July 27th, the 1882 Foundation interns had the opportunity to attend a Women at Work mentoring session specifically organized for our cohort as we start our careers. Program Review: Film Screening at Central Library

On Wednesday July 11th I had the opportunity to attend a film screening on PBS’ The Chinese Exclusion Act hosted by the 1882 Foundation in conjunction with Arlington Public Library at Central Library. After the screening followed a discussion that lasted over an hour. The 1882 Foundation hosted its monthly Talk Story event on July 29, 2018 at the Chinatown I Street Conferencing Center. Program Review: OCA Convention

On Saturday, July 21st, I had the opportunity to attend the OCA national convention to specifically observe the Your Story, Our Story session hosted by Ali Smith and Ted Gong of the 1882 Foundation.
